Fort Worth Swing Dance Syndicate (FWSDS) Code of Conduct

The swing dance community is a welcoming and supportive scene. Instances of inappropriate behavior are rare, but should one occur; please let us know. Our Code of Conduct acknowledges our responsibility in maintaining a safe environment. We love to dance and want you to love it too within a safe community.

Guidelines
These guidelines apply to all FWSDS event attendees, including board members, volunteers, and instructors.

Please be kind and respectful of all people—regardless of age, ability, appearance, lifestyle, dance experience, or dance role. FWSDS welcomes people of all sex, race, creed, gender, and sexual orientation.

We do not tolerate harassment in any form. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments relating to another’s sex, race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, or physical appearance. Intimidation, stalking, unwelcomed photography or recording, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention also constitute harassment.

Please be mindful that one’s personal boundaries may differ from your own. Do not touch anyone without consent. Participating in verbal, physical, or sexual abuse has consequences.

Air steps, aerials, low dips, acrobatics and other similar moves are forbidden on the social floor.

We encourage anyone who has experienced or witnessed inappropriate behavior to report to an organizer (board member, volunteer, or teacher) promptly. FWSDS reserves the right to ask you to leave without a refund, and to exclude violators from future events.

FWSDS strives to treat reports with sensitivity, confidentiality, anonymity and with severity, alongside due action. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to speak to one of our board members at any event or contact us through our website (fwsds.net) or on Facebook (facebook.com/fwsds).
